Paying the Porn Piper

Ok I’ll admit this is not the sexiest subject under the sun but if ya wanna play you’ll almost always have to pay! We’ve all heard the saying, “Buyer Beware.” Nowhere does this apply more, than in adult entertainment. Thus, we offer you this porn credit card information.

FIRST AND FOREMOST: Always use plastic and credit card plastic at that: Not your debit card. On Sir Rodney’s web site also answers the question “Is your credit card safe?” and the good Sir will tell you all you’ll need to know about the use of credit cards and porn. If this credit card stuff really turns you on you need to see a good shrink immediately however if your a detail junky by all means investigate FTC credit card theft policies. In this day and age of increased identity theft know that if your CREDIT CARD is used fraudulently you are liable only for the first $50 bucks and most credit card companies will wave even that charge. Although, in theory, the same regulations apply to your debit card this is not clearly spelled out in federal law and the final disposition may lie with the bank issuing the debit card. Now regarding the subject of banks:

You sometimes have an option of paying by check however I wouldn’t. If identity thieves get hold of your checking account, things might not go too well. Checks are not fully covered under Federal Law and state regulations as well as individual bank regulations very wildly. Your only recourse might be the STATES ATTORNEY GENERAL and I’m quite sure they’d be more then helpful if you told them you were buying adult entertainment: not.

Their are some sites that provide for 900 number billing. Have you ever tried getting a refund from the telephone company? They have the first Indian head coin they earned still in their reserve fund.

Some words regarding credit card third party billing companies are now in order. Today a majority of sites are billing through Paycomm as their third party billing company. Over the last three years I have only praise for these people. Their outstanding customer service puts the Fortune 500 companies to shame. When you call their 800 number 99.9% they are going to pick up inside of 30 seconds and guess what gang! You’re not calling Krustchovastan and they all understand and speak perfect English!!!. Not always but many times they are understanding about signing up for a month rather then the trial you wanted (more on this later) and if you can prove your having on going technical problems they are there to actually assist and will many times refund your money. Ibill is another service (not as customer friendly). Here’s a tip: although they might not hand it, Ibill’s telephone number is 800-307-3558. Do not threaten the billing companies with “calling the ftc” when asking them to remove charges. It is not productive.

Although the following tips sound like common sense, it’s amazing how many times one can make the same mistakes. If you want a trial make sure your signed up for a trial not a month. If you want just a trial sign up and you’ll almost always receive an immediate e-mail with membership info. Use the handy dandy 1 800 telephone number and cancel immediately. No harm is done, because you can always sign for a month membership later.

Ok the lecture is over. Next time we’ll continue to explore “The Darker Side” of porn. For more reading, check out Sir Rodney’s Porn Buyer’s Guide.
