Furniture Porn from PES, and a PES Film Festival
Sir Rodney has a great job: to look at cool
stuff on the Internet all day. Not all of it is hard core sex, either, much of it is the hurly burly of vaguely related news, clips, collage, email, links, and jokes that is generally thought of as mainstream web entertainment. The good porn is like the icing on the web cake, so to speak.
Today we got a link to a short Furniture Porn movie by PES, the well regarded New York artist whose innovative short films, perfect for the web, have led to increasingly prestigious tv commercial assignments for clients Nike and the LA Dodgers. While PES was introduced to Sir Rodney for his brilliant animation of the Van Gogo’s Furniture Porn parody, his portfolio of wonderful free shorts, so perfect for the web, was far more entertaining and certainly more edifying than the mind-numbing cavalcade of human furniture porn that is foisted upon us daily.
We also found a spectacular documentary, also by PES, on the making of this extraordinary animated piece.
It was wonderful to see PES’s process. His storyboards, and to see him at work on his East Village rooftop with his 16mm Bolex camera (and his bong)!
PES now works for a classy boutique TV production company, Czar, with whom he did this award winning Coinstar TV commercial. We’re told PES was recently shooting an enourmous spot for Bacardi in LA, using the design team from Team Amercia: World Police and the DP from Sky Pirates. This guy is going to be big.
