I have always maintained that porn is art, but I never thought it would be used to preserve art . . .

Some researcher in California believes that those interested in preserving digital art should look to the porn industry for guidelines. I assume he believes that the naked human form is art.

The researcher believes that the manner in which pornographers swap material creates a “real time digital archive.”

“I guarantee that a wealth of pornography from the late 20th century will survive in digital distributed form because it’s a social model that’s working extremely well,” Kurt Bollacker said. “Anyone interested in preserving digital art should evaluate ongoing distributed data efforts.”

Of course Bollacker is from Berkley.
